The first releases for December for Spec-Sec and Colony-15 are now up on the store and available for purchase. So get on over there and check them out! (that is, if you didn't see the last blog posting. If you've already seen them then go buy some! They're pretty awesome!)
Oh, and since I neglected to mention it before, the new Spec-Sec minis were sculpted by Chris Elizzardo, and damn he rocks!

Alas, we will finally be releasing some... er, new releases! ...just as soon as the webstore is fixed. (if it isn't one thing, it's another!) Without further ado, here they are (previewed)! For Colony-15 we have "15CL2 Colonist Adventurers with Respirators." Yep, these are the same figures as 15CL1, but now able to breathe during those Pale Wind storms or while tracking Zonii war-parties in the canyonlands. 5 pack for $4.00 USD. And we can't leave our brave Colonist Scout without a filter, now can we? "15CC3 Colonist Scout with Respirator." Single figure $1.00 USD. Don't think Spec-Sec is being left out! Agent Ionia is getting some backup! Meet Agent Diegylis, second in command of Spec-Sec Division 11. He's a lot stronger than he looks, thanks to an advanced synthetic combat body designed exclusively for injured Spec-Sec operatives, able to wield heavy weapons as if they were common small arms. And did I mention that he's still pissed about being mostly blown up by Satrae terrorists? Ya, remaining cells better be watching their backs... "15SS102 Agent Diegylis in Medium Intensity Armor" single figure $1.00 USD But what about when he's not on duty? Well, Agent Diegylis is a bit old school. He tends to wear comfortable clothing that went out of fashion half a century ago, drives an old Lancer sports car that is just about as old (coming soon!), and prefers to carry a hand-canon that was a trend 25 years after the last time his trademark mohawk was popular. Obviously our man Diegylis is not one to worry about blending in! "15SS103 Agent Diegylis Casual" single figure $1.00 USD Davus is what most people would consider an old man. Conscripted into the Rogarian Armed Forces in his late teens, Davus was thrown into the unforgiving meat grinder of the battle for Hostana City during the Grastam Intervention. Rogaria lost the war, badly, but after surviving day-to-day street fighting for three years Davus was "fostered" into the Ylkanii Special Services, where his body was severely damaged in a lifter crash during a combat extraction eighteen years ago. Because of his talents Davus was one of the first "new generation" fully conversion synthetic body recipients and his service continued for another decade before he "retired". Now a freelance coordinator occasionally employed by Spec-Sec, as well as some more nefarious groups, Davus keeps his old clunky prosthetic body as updated as it can continue to handle. "15SS104 Borg Davus" single figure $1.00 USD "Witnesses say that everything was normal before the incident. No hint of what was coming. The Doll just suddenly arched its back, flung wide its arms, and leaped onto the table screeching before tearing into the restaurant goers like some mad animal. Tell tales indicate that this was an older personal bodyguard model bought cheaply on the black market and reformatted for service industry performance, thus the extendible finger claws and enhanced reflexes. Agent Algol is running what few numbers we've found, but I'm pretty sure of it. There's no telling what set it off like that, maybe a regressive memory trigger or transgressed behavior pattern it detected which activated a buried subroutine, but we're not ruling out foul play or terrorist involvement, not with eighteen dead from this rampage..." "15SS401 Rampaging Geisha Bot" single figure $1.00 USD "It was HUGE! Like almost eight feet tall huge! And so quiet. It just sort of stole through the trees like a shadow then it was on them, flipping the command car like it was a toy and tearing it open with those claws. They didn't stand a chance. It was three, maybe five seconds before we could get over the surprise and start to fire at it. Guns popped out from hidden panels somewhere on that thing and it just mowed us down as it withdrew. I don't know if it was a Full Borg or a Combat Android, but I don't EVER want to see one again..." "15SS402 Type C combat borg #1" Single figure with separate arms $1.25 USD (two more poses are forthcoming) And there you have it. I will do mybest to get better photos for the webstore and maybe even paint a few, but i thought you'd like to see these critters as soon as they were ready. As soon as the webstore is repaired they will be up and announcements will be made! Since even in the future scientists have more common sense than to allow the "average Joe" to have their own personal jetpacks, the everyday citizen and foreign tourist still needs a way to get around the city. And I can already hear you say "but isn't that what taxis are for?" Yes. Yes it is. And here is your taxi of the Spec-Sec future: It's somewhat stylish, has both ground and air options, and seats about 20 so go ahead and bring your jukebox money.... sorry, got a little lost there! No, it actually seats 4-6, and can be human driven or robot-controled. Also doubles as the dreaded family minivan, and I'm sure some nefarious types might rig it for nefarious purposes, but we will see...
Oh, and it does appear that we will indeed be having a Kickstarter for the Dark Star 15mm line, after the initial 3 releases. This will allow a quicker release of vehicle models as well as figures for the Feddies, Vents, and them evil K-dudes. Rumor even has it that two new factions may be appearing. But you know how rumors are. Sometimes they're even true! So you saw the Police cruiser the other day, and figure "hey, that's cool. It's all curvy and smooth, and looks like it'd just slip through the air while chasing baddies." (or something like that.) And what happens after you've chased down said baddies, they wreck out and bail in a bad neighborhood and stir up the locals, maybe grab a hostage or two? Now you've got Trouble brewing and need to come down with a heavy hand. After all, who knows what sort of artillery they may have squirreled away in the ghetto... You call out The Wagon. It's big. It's armored. It can carry a whole mess of Coppers and a Drive Armor to boot! And boot they shall... This angry mother is over 12cm long and 4cm high, and can double and a post apocalyptic Winnebago! When smashing through burning tire barricades or shambling masses of zombies, why would you want anything else?
She's been sent off to the printer, so you'll be seeing her in hand reeeeeeaaaaaaal soon! Wow, Wednesday already? Yep, late with the weekly updates, again... So I've mentioned that we are working on various things and stuff, and progress has been made. Take a gander at this: What you are seeing is a car. Yup, a car. But, it's also a flying car! And not just that, it can be a luxury civilian or Police car or flying car! Woop woop! Now, the vented thrust pods shown on the center car will not be part of the deal, but each vehicle will come with the police light bar, and both wheels and grav pods. Sort of looks like a Crown Vic on steroids, neh? Like it a lot! As many of you may recognize by the rendering this beauty was drawn up by the nefarious Charles Oines, and we all know he does great work. Even better: more from his fertile mind are in the works!
We will be releasing this vehicle with a bevy of police goodness all at once. ETA TBD. And before you ask, the figure is there for scaling purposes and is not going to be for sale. Remember waaaaaay back when we did that little poll for Spec-Sec? It may not seem like it, but we listened. The top two responses we received from the blog comments and emails (I still wonder why some people prefer to email their answers and questions rather than posting to the blog, but I digress....) were:
#1 More Police Fairytales...er, I mean Police Cars and stuff (bit of a Monty Py slip there, apologies, and I have just been sacked) #2 Rogue Borgs. So guess what? We've gotten some Police stuff done, and some borgs are just about done! What's that? You want to see them? Well.... naw. This is just a tease. When this next batch is all said and done and ready to go, we'll show you what they look like. Unless you twist my arm or shower me with lavish gifts (please do the later!), can't resist lavish gifts! Our good friend DFlynSqrl has sent some pictures of his painted Spec-Sec Response Team (medium Intensity). Check out them urban bases! And what about that Cyrillic 'E' on their shoulders? Rad. (why yes, we grew up in the 80's...why do you ask?) As always, there are more pix in the Gallery. As always, we're feverishly working away on upcoming releases, and the list is quite long (and growing). Deciding what to give priority can sometimes be quite hard, and the Spec-Sec line is probably the more difficult one to organize in a way that the consumer will appreciate. So we are turning to you to ask, "hey, which of these Spec-Sec release would you like to see before the others?"
1. Aero-pursuit (flying things and related items) 2. Rogue borgs and bots (Spec-Sec's gotta have badguys to face, right?) 3. Police, Riot Police, and their conveyances 4. City/urban accessories and dross (dumpsters, kiosks, vending carts and machines, etc.) 5. Military grade Battle-armors The next Spec-sec release, slatted for mid April or May, is already decided and mostly complete but you'll have to wait until next month for teasers. In the meantime, please give the above list a ponder and give us a response to what YOU would like to see next! The prints for the three 15mm Drive-armors are at the casters, as well as the first 15mm Spec-Sec 5-man team and the first Spec-Sec character model. The Battle-armors should be here any day now, and they will get to the caster soonest. Projected release time is two weeks or so. Speaking of the first 5-man Spec-Sec team... who like bad photos of good products? Me too! This first release of Spec-Sec troops are decked out in mid-intensity response gear, which amounts to non-augmented hard body armor pieces, sensor and communication integrated helmets, and mid-caliber assault weapons fed by top mounted hex-mags. The dude with the ears is in charge. This load-out is donned for situations needing direct action but firepower levels that do not produce (much) collateral damage such as hostage rescue, urban assaults on terrorist cells, Black Friday sales, decommissioning of rampaging domestic androids, and on-site crisis reaction teams for diplomatic meetings and charity golf events. Spec-Sec is both an ESWAT and Special Forces type unit, that also has investigative duties. Most Spec-Sec operators are either Agents (investigators) or members of Response Teams, which are always on-call to be rushed into dangerous situations (both domestic and abroad), though some take on both duties. On the right hand side of this picture we see Ionia, one of those dual specialists. She's brash and headstrong but very good at ending situations that have gone pear-shaped with minimal collateral damage. She likes big guns and punishing the wicked. Ionia will be available separately, as a stand-alone figure. More character models will be forth coming, such as Agents or special personality figures. |
